Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $974,998)
The purpose of these enhancements is to expand capacity, add recovery
housing options, integrate, and expand evidence-based services (including MAT) and practices
that support families, add inpatient treatment, offer naloxone training, assign peer and family
coaches to each participant, add extended drug panels, and add an evidence-based screening tool. Expected outcomes include reduced recidivism, reduced overdoses, stronger families, and
rehabilitation for those who are HR/HN and dependent upon drugs and/or alcohol so that they
may become productive community members. These enhancements will reduce crime in our
jurisdiction and ultimately save lives. The service area includes the Charter Township of Clinton,
the Charter Township of Harrison, and the City of Mount Clemens. We are in a suburb of
Detroit, which is 18th on the list of historically disadvantaged communities (poverty.umich.edu)
and is part of the tri-county area. When possible, we will accept transfers from outside of our
jurisdiction. The intended beneficiaries of these enhancements are (1) those who have found
themselves in the criminal justice system due to substance abuse dependence and (2) the
members of the communities in which these individuals reside. The expected number of HR/HN
participants proposed to receive services is 40 per year for 4 years, for 160 total.
