Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $422,800)

The City of Baltimore, through the Mayor’s Office of
Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (MONSE), seeks
funding to support the interagency collaborative expansion
of the city’s Group Violence Reduction Strategy (GVRS).
MONSE proposes to oversee and coordinate the continued
expansion of GVRS from its pilot phase in the Western
district to the Southwestern district and beyond. This
staggered expansion is in keeping with the mayor’s promise
to deliver citywide implementation of GVRS by 2024. This
phased approach will ensure that programs are responding to
the unique dynamics of each community and that city and
community capacity is sufficiently developed to respond to
identified needs.
