Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $999,853)
Osage County Interlocal Cooperative (OCIC) will work with seven rural target districts: Bowring, Caney Valley, Frontier, McCord, Osage Hills, Pawhuska, and Wynona. The grant will serve approximately 2,460 students in grades PreK–12th and 240 school personnel. The OCIC’s STOP project seeks to address barriers and gaps in services, infrastructure, and opportunities for students in rural schools by building strategic partnerships and hiring qualified personnel to cooperatively train school personnel and educate students on preventing violence. Project activities include: Establishment and implement a technology-based platform for anonymous reporting of school safety concerns and individuals at risk of harm to self or others; Implementation of Botvin Lifeskills; Botvin Lifeskills training provided to students; PAX Good Behavior Game to be used with select grade levels; Increased implementation fidelity of multitiered systems of support (MTSS) for social-emotional and behavioral supports at all LEAs; Yearly administration of ED School Climate Survey (EDSCLS) at each site; Consultation to site MTSS and/or school safety teams to analyze and respond to the school climate data; Ongoing professional development, including NEAR-Beyond ACEs Program, Creating a Safe and Respectful Environment in our Classrooms, and Crisis Prevention Institute Nonviolent Intervention; Biannual parent engagement events. The selected activities will support the OCIC STOP project in improving school safety and climate in all participating LEAs.
