Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $851,663)

Randolph County requested $851,677.00 in federal funds under Category 1 to implement District 19B Veterans' Treatment Court. The District Attorney's Office collaborated with District Court Judges, the Randolph County Clerk of Court, the NC Division of Community Corrections, defense attorneys, and local mental and behavioral health providers to establish process and procedures for the VTC. The 19B District Veterans' Treatment Court will be a pre- and post-adjudication court which will serve approximately 80 veterans per year beginning with the grant period start of October 1, 2023, and funded through this grant through September 30, 2026. The estimated length of the program will be a minimum of 16 months and a maximum of 24 month, with an average of 18 months for each participant.
