Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $623,934)
There is no Tribal Reentry agency on the Wind River Indian Reservation (WRIR) and no coordinating agency to provide wrap around reentry services for formerly incarcerated individuals in possitive reentry to their community. In this case the Northern Arapaho Tribe, working with relevent WRIR agencies and programs and in connection with the Federal and State Judges are committed to a Reentry Court and wrap around services for reentry. A comprehensive list of services available indicates the necessary agencies exist and that an Agecy Administrator for Reentry with appropriate skills would be able to build connections and programming from what exists. Meetings with WRIR agencies and programs indicated a strong support and willingness to collaborate in the Reentry program and give Tribal Members the tools they need to reenter their community and become possitive contributors to their community.
In addition to a coordinating agency for the reentry program a consultant would be hired to monitor the program keeping goals and objectives ever present in everyone's minds, providing technical assistance and written progress reports distributed to all agencies and programs concerned and to the organizing agency and Tribal Administration and Judges. The collection of data points connected to results predicted by goals and objectives will be continuous and provided to be useful in redirection when necessary.
