Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $325,000)

The City of Tuscumbia proposes to implement the Marked Patrol Vehicles deter Crime.  The purpose of this project aims to enhance community safety within the City of Tuscumbia and its police jurisdiction by deploying marked patrol vehicles in neighborhoods.  Research indicates that the presence of marked patrol vehicles serves as a deterrent to criminal activities and fosters a sense of security among residents.  The City of Tuscumbia also believes this program with develop a better relationship with its residence.  The Service Area will include the City of Tuscumbia and its police jurisdiction.  The primary activities and the expected outcome will be to increase patrols in marked vehicles in the targeted neighborhoods and use a means of getting to know the residence by providing a foot patrol while in the neighborhoods.  The outcome is to deter criminal activities such as drugs, thefts, and burglaries.  The primary beneficiaries of this project are the citizens of Tuscumbia and its residence in the police jurisdiction.
