Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $563,000)

The Lander County Sheriff’s Office proposes to implement the Lander County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Technology project. The purpose is to enhance operational capabilities in crime investigation, response, and prevention in Lander County. Project activities include procuring equipment and resources that will improve mobility and operational efficiency in both populated and remote areas; enhance the ability of the LCSO to prevent crime by increasing visibility and presence in the communities; provide advanced tools for thorough and timely crime investigations; and ensure safety and operational continuity in all weather conditions and terrains. Expected outcomes include: procurement of equipment and technology which will significantly bolster the LCSO’s operational readiness and effectiveness. By enabling better access and observation capabilities, the project aims to deter criminal activities and enhance community safety. The new tools will also streamline investigative processes, ensuring crimes are addressed promptly and efficiently regardless of the location or environmental challenges. Ultimately, this project will strengthen the Sheriff’s Office’s capacity to serve and protect the residents of Lander County; both Lander County Sheriff’s Office staff and Lander County citizens will therefore be the beneficiaries of the project.
