Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $500,000)

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is currently in the process of designing a new headquarters building for the agency, which will include designated space for forensics.  Our current facilities are inadequate; personnel are spread out among 7 different buildings around our County.  With having a new headquarters, operations will be housed in one space, providing for better efficiencies for the Office.

The purpose of this program would be to focus specifically on the design, purchase and set up state-of-the art physical and digital forensic lab areas in the new building that would provide the latest tools, equipment, and related technology to enhance our investigative efforts in our community.  The program includes funding to obtain design services specifically for forensic labs and to obtain equipment for the space.  Crimes that are committed continually involve the use of more and more technology; as a result, our Office must have the latest technology in place to conduct our investigations in order to better serve the citizens of our community.
