Stab Resistant Vests for Harris County Sheriff's Office Detention Officers

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) proposes to purchase stab-resistant vests for the protection and safety of detention officers. Incidents involving the discovery of the possession/manufacture of weapons are prevalent and on the rise within Harris County detention settings. The stab-resistant vests will provide much-needed protection against edged weapons, reducing the risk of serious injury, and possible death. These stab-resistant vests will be procured through the Harris County bidding process. Once a vendor is selected, the HCSO Uniform Supply unit will coordinate issuing vests to first line personnel who have direct exposure to potentially hostile environments within the detention setting.
