Sparta Policing Equipment and Technology Upgrades

The City of Sparta proposes to implement the Sparta Policing Equipment and Technology Upgrades. The purpose is to upgrade technologies to assist with community engagement in the City of Sparta and the surrounding area. Project activities include presentations to our DARE classes for the Sparta Community Unit District No. 140 and the Southern Illinois Substance Abuse Alliance, now known as Health Communities Alliance. Expected outcomes include enhanced police-community relations and lowering the costs for the municipality that could divert previously committed funds to other community-based applications. These programs assist in the training of young adults the serious issues about alcohol and drug abuse and the benefit to the parents, schools, and the community by instilling this education in these children.
