Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $963,000)

The Public Safety Training Center has identified three key program enhancements and initiatives focused on: (1) ensuring that programs provide the skills needed by employers by creating clearly defined career pathways that leverage credit and non-credit options leading to job placement and job retention; (2) increasing minority/female enrollment, completion and job placement in public safety education and training programs to meet employer needs by better matching regional demographics; and (3) strengthening community leadership engagement to maximize employer relations and improve employment placement and retention.

To meet the needs of the community and the goals outlined above, equipment is requested to enhance law enforcement education and training. Equipment will be used to advance all police training offerings and to enhance training in crime scene investigation, traffic accident investigation, search and rescue, active shooter response, procedural justice and de-escalation, minimizing lethal police response, and community policing.
