Calhoun County, MI proposes to implement the Calhoun County Corrections Security Technology and Equipment project. The purpose is to improve the functioning of the criminal justice system within our correctional facility and justice complex by upgrading jail security and communications systems in the Calhoun County Justice Center Complex. Project activities include replacing master control workstations and within the mechanical rooms, replacing existing intercoms and controls, replacing the current sound disturbance system, replacing pod locks, and installing new fiber optics to connect all the new systems. Expected outcomes include enhanced intercom communications and more effective master control and administrative segregation and monitoring. It also includes increased security, safety and efficiency for the approximate 110 full time corrections personnel within the jail, hopefully resulting in increased ability to hire and retain corrections officers. Employees at the justice center, including Court and Corrections, and community users of the Justice Center (inmates, visitors, general public) are the intended beneficiaries of the project. There are no intended subrecipient activities.
