Active Threat Incident Equipment

Active threat incidents have increased at an alarming rate in recent years, and these incidents have affected numerous places where citizens congregate, such as schools, businesses, places of worship, shopping locations, restaurants, and just about any public meeting location. Unfortunately, these events highlight the need to reduce the risk of active threat incidents while improving preparedness and strengthening ongoing efforts intended to prevent future occurrences. Active shooter situations are dynamic and quickly evolve. Often, the immediate deployment of law enforcement is required to not only stop the aggressive action of a person targeting the helpless, but to also protect those and others from additional harm. While the Stratham Police Department (SPD) has greatly improved policy development and has worked with our mutual aid partners towards enhanced, inter-agency training, possessing needed equipment to properly prepare for and respond to these types of incidents is lacking due to current budgetary shortfalls. If approved, these funds would be utilized to purchase and immediately deploy the necessary equipment needed to respond to and deal with these types of threats while prioritizing the saving of lives.
