Police Patrol Vehicles, Security Camera System, Body-Worn Cameras, and Equipment for the Vega Baja Municipal Police

The Municipal Police in Vega Baja respond to various situations similar to those handled by the State Police, including murders, violent crimes, robberies, domestic violence, natural disasters, and car accidents. Their jurisdiction covers 14 neighborhoods in the Municipality of Vega Baja, serving a population of 54,414, according to the 2020 census.

In recent months, our community has experienced a troubling increase in crime rates and incidents of violence. Unfortunately, our police department has been operating with limited resources and outdated equipment, leading to a significant decrease in the effectiveness of our patrol operations. This situation has underscored the urgent need for modernization and enhancement of our police force to ensure the safety and security of our residents.

The proposed project aims to acquire modern police patrol equipment and resources to significantly enhance public safety and security within our community. The funds requested will be used to purchase the necessary equipment, including new vehicles, to enable effective patrol operations and implement comprehensive crime prevention measures.

The primary objective of obtaining new vehicles and equipment is to ensure efficient patrolling and rapid response to emergency situations. With upgraded resources, the Municipal Police will be better equipped to manage and respond to incidents promptly, reducing response times and improving overall operational efficiency. Additionally, the Municipal Police will bolster security at both public and private facilities, ensuring that our neighborhoods are safer for all citizens.
