Territory of American Samoa JRJ Program

This grant program will provide funding to alleviate some of the student loans of attorneys in exchange for their services to our island nation of American Samoa. A territory of the United States in the south Pacific, American Samoa is limited in having affordable legal assistance. Majority of the local attorneys who reside in the island nation have private practices and set retainers that most of the island nationals cannot afford. With this funding, it will serve as a recruitment and retention tool for the prosecution and public defender offices of the American Samoa government for potential attorneys. The ultimate goal is for the residents of the small island territory be provided with legal services at minimal to no cost.
