2024 Oregon DOJ John R. Justice Loan Repayment Project

The Oregon Department of Justice’s Crime Victim and Survivor Services Division (CVSSD) proposes to implement 2024 John R. Justice Student Loan Repayment funding across the state of Oregon. The purposes are to provide loan relief from law school debt, to encourage lawyers to enter public service and promote retention of qualified full-time prosecutors and public defenders and continue their critical service to Oregon communities. Project activities include statewide outreach and coordinating a statewide award-making process for eligible attorneys. Expected outcomes include making awards to eligible prosecutors and public defenders who commit to three years of public service law, and continuing an annual JRJ grant making process.
