Re-Accreditation with the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners (IACME)

The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office was accredited by the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners (IACME) in 2019 and now seeks re-accreditation. The Coroner’s Office has implemented numerous processes and changes to its medicolegal death investigation practices such as certification of all veteran and new investigators, and implementation of policies to meet the best industry standards in collaboration with community partners. The Coroner’s Office seeks to certify two new medicolegal death investigators through the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI) and support two veteran medicolegal death investigators to achieve board certification through ABMDI, and also seeks to acquire reference textbooks to support these efforts.
