The Value of ACGME-Accreditation for Implementing a Forensic Pathology Fellowship at the DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office

The Dekalb Medical Examiner’s Office (DCMEO), in association with Dekalb County, Georgia, will utilize this funding to obtain accreditation of the DCMEO through the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The DCMEO will successfully complete this program by securing the required equipment, accreditation fees, and personnel hours necessary for the preparation, application, and maintenance of ACGME accreditation. This project will support the future outcome of the development of an accredited Forensic Pathology Fellowship at the DCMEO. This will in turn establish a pipeline of expertly trained physicians in forensic pathology.
