The Michigan State Police (MSP) is applying for the BJA FY24 Emergency Federal Law Enforcement Assistance (ELFEA) Program 2 grant to compensate local law enforcement agencies and emergency medical services that responded to the active shooter situation at the Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad in Rochester Hills, Michigan, on June 15, 2024. Seven agencies from cities and townships in Macomb and Oakland Counties and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office assisted in treating victims and locating the suspect. These agencies incurred significant, unplanned overtime expenses the day of the incident. With EFLEA funding, the MSP intends to reimburse these agencies for their timely and courageous response that helped restore safety and security to the Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad and surrounding communities.
