Urban Peace Institute CVI

The Urban Peace Institute (UPI) will implement the Compton and Harbor Peacemakers: Reducing Community Violence program. UPI will leverage the success of its current community violence intervention and prevention (CVIPI) grant to expand the footprint of their efforts to reduce violent crime and save the lives of Los Angeles County’s residents by expanding to the Compton and Harbor City residents who are disproportionately impacted by violence. UPI will convene a CVIPI team comprised of diverse community stakeholders to assess the drivers of violence and develop community-based violence intervention strategies. UPI will engage a research partner, University of California Davis, to conduct a community violence assessment to evaluate the effectiveness of violence reduction strategies.
