Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $1,000,000)
The proposed project supports a partnership between Horry County’s J Reuben Long Detention Center (JRL) and the Eastern Carolina Housing Organization (ECHO) for the purposes of improving services and supervision to inmates with housing insecurities being released from correctional facilities back into the community. This project builds on a longstanding partnership of Horry County with ECHO though the County’s entitlement programs funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, as well as the recent expansion of treatment programs at JRL. This proposal is responsive to Priority 1B of the program solicitation, serving those who are at risk of homelessness upon release from custody, with a focus on individuals receiving treatment for addiction through JRL’s Next Steps program.
