Smyth County Recovery Court (SCRC) is a post-adjudication, adult treatment court in southwest Virginia. Smyth County is designated as a rural, high-poverty community with qualified opportunity zones. Smyth County Recovery Court requests funds to enhance recovery management service and implement equity and inclusion program assessment tools. The purpose is coordinate workforce development classes facilitated by human resources personnel from local companies. Classes will include interviewing skills and mock interviews, job search, assistance applying for vocational certification classes, and resume building. Enhance equity and inclusion by implementing strategies to collect, analyze, and implement data-driven changes identified by completing the American University Racial and Ethnic Disparities Program Assessment Tool. Training will be provided to Smyth County Recovery Court team members on equity and inclusion by attending the national conference and requiring team members to attend specific tracks addressing this topic. Expected outcomes include reducing financial barriers to obtaining housing and employment opportunities for participants and reduced time in obtaining stable, safe sober living; providing workforce support to help participants be successful in gaining functional, meaningful employment for long-term success; and reducing health risks, overdose, and infectious diseases for participants and their family/support system. Implementing the Racial and Ethnic Disparities Program Assessment Tool will allow the team members to identify and make data-driven changes to the program to ensure equity and inclusion.
