Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $245,689)

The Eastern District of Pennsylvania 2024 Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) strategy supports the continuation of Special Assistant United States Attorneys (SAUSAs) to handle firearms cases, with the goal of disrupting drug and firearm trafficking operations that utilize major thoroughfares in and around Philadelphia. The SAUSAs from the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General will continue to bring firearms cases.  The SAUSA project has been beneficial in having a deterrent effect of the additional cases handled by the SAUSA. The SAUSA project component will support gang task forces in regions experiencing high levels of violent crime. An additional area of concern is the high rate of carjackings in the Philadelphia area. The Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General has been identified as a subrecipient to support the role of the SAUSA.
