North Carolina Department of Public Safety will serve as the fiscal agent for the United States Attorney's Office Eastern District of North Carolina FY20204 PSN funding. The EDNC encompasses the 44 easternmost counties of the state, with a population of approximately four million. This includes North Carolina’s capital city of Raleigh, one of the largest military populations in the country (primarily Fayetteville, Jacksonville, Goldsboro), and the largest military installation (Fort Liberty). The District’s strategy is a collaborative partnership between the USAO, District Attorneys’ offices, and federal, state and local law enforcement agencies across the 44 counties of the district (44 Sheriffs; 187 Police Departments; 16 elected District Attorneys) involving the regional assignment of AUSAs, strategic targeting, decentralized case intake authority, and public messaging.
The Eastern District of North Carolina will utilize these funds to enhance efforts of the district’s PSN partners through a multifaceted approach to reduce violent crime in the six regions through enforcement, deterrence, and prevention.
