Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $963,931)
South Dakota is geographically expansive yet a sparsely populated state. Our rural environment has led to a spirit of cooperation and collaboration in our criminal justice services. This is a driving force for our funding priorities.
The priorities for funding are to provide resources needed to address drug crimes, organized criminal activity, cyber security crimes and threats, and other violent crimes facing law enforcement and their communities in the state. Resources will also be provided to our rural communities to prosecute those who commit these crimes. The state will continue to provide funding for the State Drug Task Force Program, the Statewide Drug Prosecution Program, and the South Dakota Highway Patrol. The Department of Public Safety (DPS) will also provide resources to city, county, and tribal law enforcement agencies to assist them in keeping their own communities safe.
