Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $2,070,003)
It is the goal of the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet (JPSC) to use funds awarded from the 2024 JAG State Program to support government organizations and nonprofit agencies in implementing justice-related projects. JPSC, working in collaboration with the Governor’s Office, determined Kentucky’s JAG funding priorities. Kentucky’s strategy places a primary funding priority on multi-jurisdictional drug task forces and programs that confront substance abuse through prevention, intervention, and enforcement. Kentucky will use 2024 funds to support multi-jurisdictional drug task force programs and enhanced enforcement activities, substance abuse and reentry initiatives targeting justice-involved individuals, overtime for public safety officers, and juvenile drug and alcohol prevention programs. Funds will support long-term investments in public safety that address substance abuse and enhance other law enforcement initiatives to protect Kentucky citizens. Kentucky hosts a competitive application process for state JAG funds. By October 1, 2025, Kentucky will provide the Bureau of Justice Assistance with a detailed report of approved awards. JPSC will collect financial reports and program outcomes quarterly from subrecipients. JPSC will submit progress to the Bureau of Justice Assistance throughout the JAG award period.
