Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $652,363)

Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) will serve over 20,000 KCKPS students, their families, school staff, and law enforcement. Partnering with student and community-driven Enough is Enough violence prevention activities, KCKPS will train students to care for and connect with each other and their school community using Rachel's Challenge (RC) programming. RC will be used to build trust and train students to reach out for help for themselves and others through a trauma-informed anonymous reporting and help platform that includes access to RC digital social emotional learning (SEL) content, basic need and other resources, crisis support, and local responders. Increased use of the anonymous reporting system will be supported by formal training for KCKPS multidisciplinary teams in evidence-based behavioral threat assessment, suicide risk assessment, and case management.
