Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $30,152)
The Idaho State Police (ISP) is the State Administering Agency (SAA) for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG), which is administered by the ISP Pass-Through Grants and Research (PGR) department. PGR will also administer and pass through PREA reallocation funds. PGR will work closely with the Idaho PREA contact at the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) to continue work toward PREA compliance in Idaho confinement facilities under the Governor’s operational control.
The Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) is working to meet PREA Standards in Idaho’s state prisons and community confinement facilities and is the only eligible subgrantee in Idaho to receive PREA funds. Idaho is not fully in compliance with PREA Standards and will continue working toward compliance in areas where corrective action is needed, to participate in necessary audits to identify PREA deficiencies, and to ensure successful ongoing PREA implementation throughout the state system. IDOC has determined that, among other priorities, resources are needed for maintaining certified PREA audits, funding for corrective actions identified in the audits, and supporting critical partnerships. IDOC also plans to use a small portion of funding, to ensure victim advocate partnerships are supported with funding assistance in Idaho’s most populous area. This project will be used to identify and support sustainability in all areas.
