City of Montevallo Body Worn Camera Grant Application

The City of Montevallo Police Department proposes to implement the BJA FY24 Body-Worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program to Support Law Enforcement Agencies. The purpose is to upgrade the equipment available to the officers of the Montevallo Police Department, streamline officer documentation and reporting capabilities, and improve safety and accountability for both the officers and the community. Project activities include purchasing new body worn cameras, docking stations, and universal camera power supply for use in the city of Montevallo, Alabama. Expected outcomes include enhancing officer safety in the field through longer camera battery life, waterproof weather resistance, and GPS location features on the cameras; improved officer documentation and streamlined reporting capabilities with camera reporting upgrades; and improved officer time efficiency with faster camera charging stations. The officers of the Montevallo Police Department and the community members of Montevallo, Alabama are the intended beneficiaries of the project.
