The Grant County Sheriff's Office proposes to implement the Body Worn Camera and Policy Project. The purpose is to establish and implement body worn cameras and policy within Grant County to strengthen and ensure trust in our communities, as well as reducing complaints and officer safety, and improve officer's performance through recorded data review. This project will be used at the Grant County Sheriff's Office, as this is the only law enforcement entity in Grant County.
The Body Worn Cameras and Policy Project will consist of a series of activities to implement and successfully adopt the projects mission and goals. The project will develop a comprehensive and detailed outline of the primary activities and timeline will include the policy development and adoption of the policy, develop a program user equipment manual for deputies, Community and Officers Stakeholders, the research and purchasing of equipment, training for officers and staff, the deployment of cameras and equipment, and policy and program evaluation.
The expected outcomes of this project will be assessed through the deliverance of a timeline of the activities and assessments throughout the project. The research of equipment category will also consist of evidence based practices and other local law enforcement agencies already using Body Worn Cameras to receive feedback to effectively assist in our project. The Community and Office Stakeholder perspectives and Policy and Program Evaluation will also aid in the successful implementation of the Body Worn Camera and Policy Project in Grant County.
