The Clay County Anti-Drug Coalition (CCADC) proposes to implement the Clay County COSSUP Initiative serving Clay County, TN, a rural community with a population of 7,620. This award will allow for the hiring and training of a full-time peer recovery support specialist, a part-time peer recovery support specialist, and a care coordinator to help those seeking sobriety and to provide navigation to those in recovery to ensure their success. The project will also allow for a prevention coordinator to provide the enhancement and expansion of evidence-based prevention initiatives to include education dissemination and hosting of awareness events. Key goals and objectives of the project are to expand availability of individual and group peer recovery support services to address gaps in substance use disorder (SUD) systems of care, including by providing care coordination to connect clients at high risk of overdose with resources such as transitional or recovery housing and expedited treatment and recovery services; and to reduce deaths and overdose rates in Clay County by expanding prevention and harm reduction strategies, including by purchasing a mobile medication unit and drug disposal pouches for at home use, providing Naloxone training and distributing it in high need areas, and provide client resources for medication assisted treatment (MAT). CCADC will work with community partners to implement strategic activities to address these objectives.
