City of Harlingen Police Department - FY24 JAG Training Project

The City of Harlingen – Police Department requests $17,929 to modernize the department’s field training officer (FTO) program by converting to a paperless method. The Harlingen Police Department will purchase FTO software and iPads with accessories that will allow the field training officers and new officers to complete reports and assignments and track their progress toward goals and milestones. It will also give the field training coordinator a real-time view of how officers progress through the program and make changes as needed. The portability of the iPads removes the burden of the traditional binder, paper, and pen method that had to be completed at the police station and allows officers to work remotely in the field. The proposed method is structured to be adaptable, ensuring it can meet the growing needs of our department.
