Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $18,392)

The Layton Police Department seeks to increase the less-lethal capabilities for police officers with the addition of ten (10) Pepper Ball Systems as part of our ongoing commitment to enhance public safety while minimizing the risk of injury to both police officers and community members. These devices represent a strategic approach to de-escalation, allowing our officers to effectively manage situations that could otherwise escalate into violence.

Prosecutors and paralegals in the Davis County Attorney’s Office use multimedia trial-presentation software to organize and present evidence during hearings and trials. These presentations are critical to successful prosecution of complex fraud, child exploitation, and murder cases. The office needs additional hardware and possibly software to more effectively prepare and present these cases. Grant funds will be used to purchase computer hardware, software, sound equipment, cables, televisions, monitors, drives, and stands needed for this preparation and trial work.
