Purchase a Drug-Detection Canine and required equipment.

Tooele City Corporation will use Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) funds to purchase a drug-detection canine as well as necessary equipment for said canine, to assist in the Tooele City Police Department's efforts to address drug trafficking in Tooele City and Tooele County as applicable.   The drug-detection canine and handler will work closely with the Tooele County Drug Task Force, Tooele County School District, and Switchpointe (Homeless Shelter/Permanent Housing) to combat rise in drug trafficking incidences involving the community's most vulnerable populations and enhance community safety as a whole by bolstering law enforcement efforts in deterring drug use and drug trafficking. A drug-canine program will also strengthen community partnerships to facilitate education and awareness around drug prevention and detection.
