Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $22,942)

The Jacksonville Police Department will use the awarded funds from the 2024 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program to fund the continued efforts to supply all Certified Officers with body warn cameras with the most up to date technology affordable through the purchase of the V700 Body Worn Cameras through Motorola Solutions.  In the efforts to meet the demands of this project, the Jacksonville Police Department will be funding money from the Department Budget to offset cost of the shortfall to obtain the requested five body cameras.

Furthermore, the Jacksonville Police Department has fore-budgeted for the 2025 calendar year to purchase an additional 15 V700 Body Worn Cameras to meet the overall program goal.

The purchase of the V700 Body Worn Cameras assists in meeting the needs of transparency to the public, prosecution of offenders, collection of evidence, as well the ability to address areas of needed officer training.
