The grant will allow for the first phase of replacing computer workstations for the Police Department's fifteen detectives, which will allow them to work remotely as necessary or required.

For detectives to provide the best service to the community and department it requires them to frequently be away from the office.  Investigations require them to travel to neighboring jurisdictions and throughout the commonwealth to work complex cases such as fraud, stolen property offenses, and narcotics investigations, to name just a few.  A laptop assigned to each detctive in the bureau will give all detectives the ability to complete warrants, and other required paperwork without having to return to their desk or the City of Fredericksburg.
