Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $14,635)
The Lee County Sheriff's Office has had multiple cases of fentanyl exposure where a rapid-response, mobile HAZMAT team has had to be implemented. The team is currently storing HAZMAT response equipment in their vehicles and an outside closet that makes the equipment subject to damage. In order to be an operational mobile response team with rapid deployment for emergency needs, the Lee County Sheriff's Office will purchase a mobile enclosed trailer and upfit it to hold emergency equipment securely. Some of the equipment of the HAZMAT team has come to the end of its life expectancy and will be purchased out of FY25 fiscal budget; however there is a need for accessory equipment to be purchased through grant funds. These upgrades and mobile response capabilities will improve the work environment so the community reaps the benefits of confident, safe, and sufficient resolutions to emergency calls.
