Acquire ballistic helmets, ballistic vests and door entry kits for active shooter incidents

The Somerset County Sheriff's Office has increased staffing levels for Patrol Deputies and needs to purchase additional ballistic vests, ballistic helmets and door entry kits so every Deputy has necessary safety gear to engage with an active shooter and the proper equipment to enter a locked interior and/or exterior door without the need for a key during an active shooter incident.  The purchase of this equipments benefits the residents of Somerset County, Maine by providing Deputies with the necessary tools they need in order to engage with and neutralize an active shooter incident in schools, places of employment, community events, or in other areas and situations in Somerset County. The Somerset County Sheriff's will purchase this equipment in Year 1 of the grant performance period.
