FY24 JAG Byrne Funding for safety and community outreach

The Binghamton Police Department will use FY24 Byrne Memorial funding to help reduce crime and increase safety in their City Parks. The grantee plans a collaborative approach to data driven, focused crime reduction. The purpose is multifaceted allowing for additional uniform patrols throughout the parks with overtime funds from the grant opportunity, and to put more officers into the community to interact and engage with community stakeholders. This opportunity allows for a stronger relationship between law enforcement and the public as well as providing a reduction in violent crime throughout and surrounding the Parks.
