HCPD Public Safety Initiative

The Henry County Police will use FY24 JAG Local funds to purchase PIT bumper kits to support officer training on the Precision Immobilization Technique, also referred to as the PIT Maneuver. The PIT maneuver is a proven and effective tool that will aid officers in ending vehicle pursuits. With a goal to always protect the citizens and visitors of Henry County from the risk of harm or death, the PIT maneuver gives the Henry County Police Department an option for bringing dangerous vehicle pursuits to an end as quickly as possible. The ability to perform the PIT maneuver safely and effectively requires extensive training for the pursuing officer. This proposed use of FY24 JAG Local funds will provide the equipment needed for specialized, behind-the-wheel training practice on the PIT maneuver and protect training vehicles from body damage and costly repairs that could result from vehicle-to-vehicle contact.
