The Holyoke Police Department (HPD) seeks funding through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program FY 2024 Local Solicitation to upgrade critical equipment and enhance operational efficiency. This funding will allow the department to replace outdated radio consoles, improving communication between officers and the records department, which is vital for timely emergency responses. HPD also aims to install a new department-wide phone system to enhance public access and communication. Additional purchases include six new office chairs, improving comfort and productivity for staff, and portable work lights with rechargeable batteries, which will provide necessary lighting at nighttime crime scenes, allowing for safer and more effective investigations.
Furthermore, HPD intends to invest in two desk converters to improve workspace ergonomics and a cradlepoint cellular backup system, ensuring uninterrupted internet service for the department’s online records management system. Finally, three label printers will be purchased to streamline the tracking and inventorying of evidentiary items.
This equipment is essential to HPD's mission of enhancing officer and public safety, improving department operations, and increasing the overall effectiveness of investigations and communication. The project will result in enhanced readiness, improved emergency response, and better community engagement, directly contributing to HPD's goal of providing a safer and more secure environment for the residents of Holyoke.
