Jefferson County will use the JAG funds to purchase APX8500 series of radios for the Sheriff’s Office. The radios give dual band functionality to the officer so that they are able to talk with units on an 800MHz band and VHF band. The radios hold a higher capacity of channels to be able to accommodate statewide communication with all public safety personal. In all, this line of radios will give the officer maximum functionality with the current and new communication systems.
