The Norristown Police Department will utilize 2024 JAG funds to offset the cost of installing an additional City Surveillance Camera System with License Plate Reader Technology. License Plate Readers, or LPRs, and City Surveillance Camera Systems will provide advance capabilities to NPD that will both aid in solving crimes and increase the level and degree of traffic enforcement and compliance in the borough. The quoted cost for each location is approximately $25,000 per year. The 2024 JAG funds will cover part of the cost of this technology for the Municipality. Of the 2024 JAG allotment for the Municipality of Norristown, $16,425.01 will be used towards the cost of the City Surveillance Camera Systems and License Plate Reader technology with the remaining $507.99 being set aside for the 3% NIBRS requirement.
