Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $37,614)
The Clearwater Police Department, servicing the city limits of the city of Clearwater, Florida, proposes to use JAG funds to replace the existing duty flashlights for sworn officers and certain non-sworn members as appropriate. A flashlight for applicable personnel is a crucial piece of equipment for the purpose of personnel to safely accomplish everyday duties. Primary activities include but are not limited to illumination to safely view suspect movements, searching areas, clearing dark buildings, directing traffic, etc. In addition to the flashlights, we look to acquire orange cones that can be affixed to the flashlights to use when directing traffic, which lends to the safety of the personnel. Holders for the flashlights to be worn as part of the uniform would need to be acquired as well. The existing flashlights have been in service for many years and have reached their end of useful life. Project activities would include coordinating with a reputable vendor to purchase 280 Streamlight Stinger DS LED flashlights with chargers, orange cones, and holders.
