The City of Grand Junction Police Department (GJPD) and the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) are requesting DOJ JAG grant funds to enhance officer and public safety by providing essential protective equipment. GJPD will replace outdated gear and equip new hires with necessary items such as Amtec PC50 masks, knee/shin guards, face shields, and chest protectors, ensuring officer readiness during high-tension events like protests and large gatherings. MCSO will use its funds to replace ballistic vests for its officers. This project serves the City of Grand Junction and Mesa County and aligns with both agencies' public safety goals, promoting safer community interactions and compliance with grant performance measures.
