Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $38,610)
The City of Council Bluffs will use the JAG funds to purchase a ram/pry door, several safes, and a Jaws of Life tool. The door will allow officers to train in a safe environment learning how to breach doors when trying to gain entry into residences, businesses, or any other structure. All of the safes will allow the EST team to utilize their ability to use explosive breach on warrant callouts, stand-offs, and other calls of service that rise to that level. The Jaws of Life tool will allow the team to make entry quickly without having to back out of a situation.
Pottawattamie County will use JAG funds to purchase a fireproof cabinet, barcode printer/signature pad, vest carriers, and camera systems with radar units. The cabinet will be used to house items of evidence for safekeeping. The barcode printer/signature pad will be used to properly label and code items into property. The vest carriers are for the Investigation Division. The camera systems and radar units are need as they are standard equipment required in patrol vehicles. The drone will be used by the Emergency Response Team to observe activities inside of a structure that may be unsafe to enter.
