Provo City Police proposes to purchase twelve rifles for the Provo SWAT team. The purpose is to replace outdated, unreliable and unsafe rifles. This project includes replacing ten rifles for the SWAT team, and two compact rifles for the Dignitary Protection Team. The expected outcomes include providing the team with highly reliable rifles that meet the demands of today's tactical police as they respond to high-risk situations. Police SWAT teams must be equipped to resolve situations while preseving life and property. Law Enforcement professionals face challenges like never before. These rifles will povide safety and reliabilty for the officers, citizens, and the community as they respond to handle crisis sutuations.
Subrecipient (Orem City Police) activities include purchasing UTM non-lethal training munitions to provide officers with realistic firearms training, and purchase Impact 40mm rounds to use for crowd control, SWAT call-outs, and Patrol incidents for officer and community safety. They propose to purchase outerwear uniforms for cold weather protection for patrol officers. This outerwear is designed to wear under their external carriers giving them the ability to access the equipment on their duty vests and keep warm.
