2024 Goldsboro Justice Assistance Grant

For the 2024 JAG Grant the City of Goldsboro and Wayne County qulaify as a disparate jurisdiction.  The City of Goldsboro will manage the grant if awarded, with the grant funds the City of Goldsboro will upgrade all exisiting in car camera system camers to Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras, and purchse one (1) additonal complete in car ALPR system for use in a new vehicle.  With the current social climate across the entire country, there is a nationwide call for mobile video recording of officers and their activities.  By the use of in car video systems, officers’ actions are documented via audio and video for not only the protection of the officer, but the citizenry served as well. 

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office seeks to use allocated funding for officer safety and less lethal use of force option. With the 2024 JAG funds, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office wishes to purchase pepper ball launchers and allied equipment with the allotted portion of the 2024 Justice Assistance Grant.
