Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $44,021)
The Justice Assistant Grant (JAG) Program, once allocated to Santa Monica, will be used to fund overtime specifically for the newly established Real Time Crime Center (RTCC). The focus is aimed to catch-up and surpass the Organized Retail theft (ORT) groups who seek to increase utilization of technology to enhance the sophistication and efficacy of their operations.
The City of Santa Monica will utilize FY2024 JAG dollars to fund overtime, specifically for the newly established Real Time Crime Center (RTCC). The RTCC will be fully staffed and functioning at least 6 days per week and 24 hours per day, the JAG funds would ensure the RTCC is operational 7 days per week and 24 hours per day. The RTCC is equipped with software and hardware solutions, "fused" into one center, for analysis and dissemination of actionable information to field-based officers and detectives in real time and for the post-incident investigative lead purposes.
The RTCC strategies meet unfunded needs and will serve to reduce area crime and keep neigborhoods safe.
