Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $53,178)
The Vermilion County Sheriff's Office and the Danville Police Department work to develop a healthy relationship with their communities, while keeping them safe from the criminal activity that can bring them harm. The grant funds would provide overtime for supplemental patrols in high-crime areas and crime prevention education. The patrols will also focus on combating violence, drug offenses, reducing gun violence, officer safety, and community policing, high-risk search warrant execution, and dangerous drug undercover operations. The extra patrols will ensure that community policing is substantial and work toward residents feeling safer in their homes. The patrols will also be in concert with other local and State partners, such as the Vermilion County Metropolitan Enforcement Group and the Illinois State Police in different instances.
